In recent weeks, Moriah has had the pleasure of welcoming several Israeli families into our community. During these challenging times, witnessing the genuine warmth, love, and care with which our children have embraced these new members of the Moriah Family has been truly heart-warming and provided us with great nachas. It reaffirms that Moriah is a place where everyone belongs.
Across our Early Learning Centres, our morning meetings have evolved into large group gatherings, uniting our classes to sing Hatikvah, share Tefillah, and recite the Shema—a daily practice aimed at instilling empathy, care, and respect within our community.
In a gesture of solidarity and support for Israel, our educators organised a blue and white challah bake for our ELC families. At the Saunders Family Campus, Ella Rossanis, a mum of one of the children in Parparim Adom, generously took on the role of being our baking master, guiding the children through this special experience. Families were warmly invited to join in, making it a memorable occasion.
Responding to our children’s interest in showing support for Israeli soldiers, we set up writing and drawing tables at the front of each Early Learning campus. Families and children enthusiastically created artworks for us to send to Israel. This beautiful experience also captured the attention of the older siblings who would come at pick-up and drop-off time, and it’s been wonderful to see everyone getting involved.
In a historic moment for Moriah, we were thrilled to share a Kabbalat Shabbat experience across all three campuses at the Queens Park site. This heart-warming and joyous occasion filled each child and educator with nachas, fostering a deep connection and a sense of belonging to our Jewish identity.
To care for the wellbeing of our educators, we gathered at a colleague’s house for dinner and a check-in, fostering a sense of unity during these challenging times.
We take immense pride in being part of a community that grows stronger in the face of difficulty, showcasing to our children the power of collective support, relationships, and cultural unity. To all the families who have recently joined us from Israel, we extend the warmest welcome – we are truly thrilled to have you as part of the Moriah Family.
