In times of uncertainty and challenge, our Early Learning Centres (ELCs) stand united and strong in our core values and practices. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment where children and their families feel a deep sense of belonging and connection. This commitment is reflected in every aspect of our curriculum, from the values we instil to the traditions we celebrate.
Celebrating our mothers
Menachem Begin once said, “It is the smile of a child, the love of a mother, the joy of a father, the togetherness of a family.”
Mother’s Day is a cherished occasion at our ELCs, reflecting our deep appreciation for the love and dedication of mothers. This celebration goes beyond mere recognition; it is a heartfelt acknowledgment of the pivotal role mothers and the special people who are mothering figures play in nurturing and shaping the lives of their children. By celebrating Mother’s Day, we aim to create moments of connection, joy, and gratitude in our ELC classrooms.
These celebrations are filled with activities that foster creativity and emotional expression. Children create portraits, gifts, and cards for their mothers, expressing their love and appreciation in tangible ways. These activities not only develop fine motor skills and creativity but also help children articulate their feelings and build strong emotional connections.
The children expressed their thanks with a delicious breakfast, turning the morning into a memorable and heartfelt experience for all involved.

These images are from our Queens Park Centre where our children and their mums dressed up for photo booth pictures, decorated photo frames, pampered themselves in a makeshift Beauty Salon, and enjoyed songs and dances. A highlight of the day was the creation of yellow beaded bracelets symbolising “Bring Them Home,” a moment of reflection and remembrance for loved ones in Israel.
Honouring our heritage – Am Yisrael Chai!
Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, is another significant celebration at our ELCs. This day is not just about commemorating a historical event; it is about instilling a love for Judaism and a connection to our homeland, eretz Yisrael, in our young learners. By immersing children in Israeli culture and heritage, we help them develop a sense of identity and belonging.
During this celebration, children engage in activities that bring Israeli culture to life. They experience traditional foods, music, and customs, which enrich their understanding of their heritage. These activities are designed to be interactive and engaging, making learning about their roots a joyous and memorable experience.

The importance of celebrations
These celebrations are integral to our educational philosophy. They provide children with a sense of continuity and tradition, helping them understand their place in a broader cultural and familial context. Celebrations like Mother’s Day and Yom Ha’atzmaut offer opportunities for children to connect with their heritage, express their creativity, and experience the joy of shared traditions.
Through these celebrations, we affirm our commitment to nurturing a strong, values-driven community. We create spaces where children can explore their heritage, express their creativity, and feel the love and support of their families and educators. We are proud to foster a sense of belonging that extends beyond our walls and into the hearts and families of every child in our care.
